sunriseThere will be an informal gathering this year to mark Midsummer.

We will meet at Springfields, Cranmore (please contact us if you require directions) on the evening of 20th June at about 8pm, and will depart after breakfast on the morning of the 21st. Camping for the night is available if required, but please contact us first as there are limited spaces.

During the evening we will be sitting around a campfile, sharing songs, stories, food and music. We will also be discussing the Solstice and the ways it relates to us and to nature. Feel free to bring something along to share – and remember it’s a celebration! In the morning, at Sunrise, we will be performing a short Pagan ceremony to mark the arrival of Midsummer’s Day, the longest day of the year.

A cooked breakfast will be available in the morning if you want one, for which donations to Wild Wood Ways are welcome.

Please leave your pets at home, and note that this event may be unsuitable for kids.

Thank you.

 Imbolc

A discussion and ritual
in celebration of Spring

St Boniface Down, Ventnor
Saturday 2nd Feb 2013 at 3pm

What is Spring?

Robin will be talking about what this time of year means to us, and discovering where we get our four seasons from. How did the seasons effect the lives of people in the past, and how do we relate to them today? What sort of things happen at this time in the natural world, and what effects do nature have on us, or us on nature?

We will also be performing a short Pagan ritual in celebration of Imbolc to give an idea of how our ancestors marked this time.

People of all faiths are welcome!

There will be no charge for this event,
but any donations for Wild Wood Ways would be welcome.

If you want any further information please contact
Robin at robin@rainbowkingdom.co.uk, or on 07732047642

This event will take place whatever the weather.
Dress warmly – it can be cold at the top!

Directions:
Travelling from Wroxall to Ventnor, go on through upper Ventnor. Just before the steep hill down to lower Ventnor take a left into Down Lane. This lane narrows and goes up steeply to the top of the down. Continue when the tarmac ends (watch out for large potholes!) to the carpark at the end of the road. There will be a short and easy walk from there.

Please pass this information on to anyone else who may be interested.
Thank you.

Afternoon Walk

Walters Copse

18th November 2012

3 PM onwards

Join us for an afternoon walk at Walters Copse, Newtown.

Robin will be discussing such things as:

  • Reading the landscape
  • Simple animal tracking
  • Perception and awareness
  • Energy flow

The aim of this walk is to show how we can observe and learn about the natural world in many different ways, and how this ability can bring us closer to nature.

This event is free, but any donations to Wild Wood Ways would be appreciated.

This walk will take place whatever the weather, so appropriate clothes and footwear are advised.

How to get there from Newport…

Drive down the Forest Road (A3054) towards Yarmouth

Turn right at the crossroads after Snows down Whitehouse Road towards Thorness

Take the first Left (Coleman’s Lane)

Ignore the Right turn (New Road)

Go Left at Corf Road

Take the right turn to Newtown

Go past the houses on the Left

Walter’s Copse is at the sharp Left bend a little down the road.

Parking is limited, so please share transport where possible.

Night Walk
Next to the Horse and Groom pub
25 Feb 2012,  8pm onwards.

Please note that Robin’s Night Walk will now be at a different place and time. If you have forwarded the Night Walk details to other people I would appreciate it if you could also send on these changes. The woods that were going to be used have now been sold, and it looks like someone is living there! The walk is now 1 hour later so I’ve time to check that nobody arrives at the original venue before travelling to the new one.

We will now meet in the car park next to the Horse and Groom pub at 8pm on Saturday 25th February 2012. The Horse and Groom pub is on the main Newport to Yarmouth road between Shalfleet and Ningwood. The car park is right next to the pub on the Newport side (it’s actually the Shalfleet recycling place) Please use this car park and not the pub one.

The theme of the walk remains the same…
- Exploring the differences between different types of wooded area
- Looking at the woods in a spiritual way
- What is invisible in daylight?
- Looking at different ways to detect things in darkness
- Looking at the ways things are interconnected
- Working with energy fields

Any donations to Wild Wood Ways will be appreciated, but are not required.

The walk will be a little over a mile. I expect it to last a couple of hours. It will be quite easy going, but there are some stiles to cross on the way, and it will be uneven under foot in places. Be prepared! You can bring a torch if you like, but no torches will be used during the actual walk.

After the walk there will be a night-time bring and share picnic for anyone who is interested – if you are it’ll be a good idea to bring something to sit on that is small and easy to carry.

Well behaved children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult, who will take full responsibility for them.

Please note that by attending this event you agree to accept full responsibility for yourself, and of any children you bring. You accept that neither Robin, nor Wild Wood Ways shall be liable for any loss or injury incurred.

Please contact Robin if you want more details

The next Pagan Federation moot will be held at the Eight Bells, Carisbrooke on Thursday 08 March 2012. It is held on the second Thursday of every month.

A moot is simply a social meeting for like-minded people, and all are welcome. You will usually meet some of our Wild Wood Ways members at these moots.
